Tamang Heritage Trek- Discovering Unique Culture of Tamangs

Tamang Heritage trial offers an opportunity to peek into the Himalayan life-style, traditions, culture and customs. This includes the experience of spectacular mountain views along with exploring the culture of people who live in this Himalayan region. The trek trial encounters traditional Tamang villages where life, culture, craftsmanship, traditions and customs have remained unchanged since the start of their settlement. Warm hospitality from the local people, their costumes, artistic architecture of their houses, ancient monasteries, religious lake and places of prayer adds wonderful experience to the Trek. Additionally, this trip to Langtang region offers wilderness experience through astonishing landscapes of alpine region, flat meadows or Kharka, mesmerizing Lakes and Rhododendron forests. The trek trial starts from Syaprubeshi and can end in Syaprubeshi, making a small loop or you can continue your journey towards Langtang Valley all the way up to Kyanjin Monastry. The total duration of this trial is 08 days and the maximum elevation is 2600 meters at Tatopani.

Day 01: Arrival, pick up by our staff and transfer you to Hotel

Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival

Upon arrival on the Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be picked up by our staff and transfer to a hotel. Our Trekking Manager will meet you and discuss about the trekking details.

Day 02: 08 hours Drive to Syaprubeshi (2720m) and overnight stay at Tea house

The drive to Syaprubeshi is a typical hilly area drive in Nepal. Langtang trekking area is the nearest trekking area of Nepal. The journey will approximately take 08 hours and we will sleep overnight at the tea house based lodge.

Day 03: 06 hours Trek to Gatlang (2238) and overnight stay at Tea house Hotel

The trial starts with the swift ascend from Syaprubeshi which will take approximately one hour and thirty minutes to reach the top which offers spectacular mountain views of Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range and nearby settlement village Goljang. The trial to Goljang village will follow with a slow descend for an hour. Lunch will be served at Goljang village and from this village settlement, another 03 hours journey will lead you to Gatlang village where majority of population are Tamang. You will be welcomed by sincere hospitality from the people and might even want to try "local raksi" (pure whisky prepared locally in their homes).

Day 04: 07 hours Trek to Tatopani (2600m) and overnight stay at Tea house

The route to Tatopani from Gatlang village is approximately 07 hours and it is the longest journey for the trek. The trial starts descending down to Thangbuchet near Chilime village where you can find Chilime hydro power project. After taking Lunch at Thangbuchet, we will cross the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi River and start to ascend uphill track all the way to Tatopani. Tatopani means hot spring water in Nepalese term. It is believed that taking bath in these natural hot springs will cure skin diseases as well as relieves pains.

Day 05: 05 hours Trek to Thuman (2338m) and overnight stay with Home stay

The trial will continue to ascend further until we reach Nagthali Danda (Note Dada means hill in Nepalese term) which will provide spectacular views of snow capped Himalayas. Lunch will be served at Brimdang village. Then the trial will continue towards Thuman village where majority of population are Tamang but their cultures are more similar to Tibetan culture. You will be experiencing the hospitality of home stay culture.

Day 06: 06 hours Trek to Rasuwagadhi (1814m) and overnight stay with home stay experience

The trial from Thuman to historical city Rasuwagadhi is more gentle with few ascends and descends. Rasuwagadhi is historically important city where the fort stands as a symbol of friendship between Nepal and Tibet. Most population of this area follows Tibetan Tamang culture. Stay overnight at a local house with a home stay experience.

Day 07: 06 hours Trek to Briddim (2229m) and overnight stay with Home stay

The total journey for the trial is approximately 06 hours. Briddim village is exceptional village for cultural riches where you can enjoy the cultural performances from the local village. The cultural experience at Briddim village is unbeatable experience. The cultures of people at this place closely resemble to Tibetan people and they are believed to have descendents of Tibetan people.

Day 08: 04 hours Trek to Syaprubeshi (2720m) and overnight stay at Tea house

The final day of descend to Syaprubeshi will approximately take 04 hours. On the trial you can capture the magnificent views of surrounding hills, village settlements and green terraces. Most of the trial is descending pathway.

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu and overnight stay at hotel

You will drive back to Kathmandu from Syaprubeshi and the drive itself is a adventurous and scenic. The total duration of the bus drive will approximately take 08 hours.

Day 10: Departure

You will be dropped in the International airport for the final departure and wish you a safe journey back home.
