Trek To GosainKunda Lake- A Holy Pilgrimage Lake

Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m) is a holy pilgrimage tour to Langtang valley. According to the legend, Gosainkunda Lake is a holy Lake where one can wash away all the sins committed in life. Moreover, many other lakes that lie in this region are Bhairabh Kunda, Surya Kunda, Aama Kunda, Dudh Kunda, etc. There will be a special occasion of celebration around this holy Lake in Baishak Purnima (April/ May) every year. If you plan your trip in this month, you will be able to celebrate this sacred occasion. Trek to Gosainkunda Lake can be started either from Syaprubeshi or Dhunche. The drive to Syaprubeshi is approximately 08 hours. Once you reach the holy Gosainkunda Lake you can either follow back the same route or you can continue pushing forward all the way to Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu from there. Spectacular views of Surya Peak, Chhyarkung Chuli, Naya Kang and Langtang mountain range can be captured. The maximum elevation point for this trek is 4610 meters at Lauribinayak pass.

Day 01: Arrival, pick up by our staff and transfer you to Hotel

Day 02: 08 hours Drive to Syaprubeshi (2720m) and overnight stay at Tea house

Day 03: 06 hours Trek to Shin Monastery (3300m) and overnight stay at Tea house

Day 04: 05 hours Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m) and overnight stay at Tea house

Day 05: 07 hours Trek to Tharepati (3510m) and overnight stay at Tea house

Day 06: 05 hours Trek to Kutumsang (2470m) and overnight stay at Tea house

Itinerary

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival

Upon arrival on the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu our staff will pick you up and transfer to a hotel. Our Trekking Manager will meet you and discuss the trekking itinerary.

Day 02: 08 hours Drive to Syaprubeshi (2720m) and overnight stay at Tea house

Langtang National Park is the nearest trekking area to Kathmandu. The scenic bus drive from Kathmandu to Syaprubeshi is approximately 08 hours and we will stay overnight at hotel.

Day 03: 06 hours Trek to Shin Monastery (3300m) and overnight stay at Tea house

The trial starts with the slow ascend pathway. After crossing Trishuli River, the route climbs steeply uphill for a long way and the route is challenging up to Chandanbari. After that the trial is gentle pathway through the pine forests. Spectacular view of Ganesh Himal can be captured on this trial.

Day 04: 05 hours Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m) and overnight stay at Tea house

The trial starts with the gentle walk through the pine forests to reach Cholang Pati and from the trial ascends steeply uphill all the way to Lauribinayak. Lauribinayak offers wide panorama of mountain views including the Annapurna mountain range and Langtang mountain range. From Lauribinayak the pathway again ascends uphill steeply for an hour with gentle ups and down and ultimately we reach Gosainkunda Lake. Gosainkunda Lake is a holy Lake for both Hindu and Buddhist Pilgrimages from their own perspectives. Thousands of Pilgrims visit this holy lake on the full moon day in August.

Day 05: 07 hours Trek to Tharepati (3510m) and overnight stay at Tea house

We will continue our journey pushing forward and we will not travel the same way back. The trial to Tharepati will contain few ups and downs. However, the total duration of the journey will approximately take 07 hours.

Day 06: 05 hours Trek to Kutumsang (2470m) and overnight stay at Tea house

The journey from Tharepati to Kutumsang is more descend than ascend. There are gentle ascends and descends throughout the trial. However, the trial descends steeply through the Rhododendron forests to reach Kutumsang. The trial passes through village settlements and mostly green lush forests.

Day 07: 05 hours Trek to Chisapani (2300m) and overnight stay at Tea house

The trial ascends slowly to reach a pass of altitude 2580 meters near Gul Bhanjyang and then trial descends past the Gul Bhanjyang. From Gul Bhanjyang we pass the large Buddhist Chorten and from there the trial starts to ascend slowly to the forests. The good views of the mountains, hills and hillocks can be captured on this trial. From Jhagin Danda, there is a steep downhill staircase of approximate length of 200 meters. From hereafter the route is continuous downhill pathway all the way to Chisapani.

Day 08: 05 hours Trek to Sundarijal (1350m) and drive back to Kathmandu

From Chisapani the trial will continuously descend through the forests and with few village settlements. Just before reaching Sundarijal, you will find a big dam for hydro power. From Sundarijal we will drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 09: Departure

We will drop you in the International airport for the final departure and wish you a safe journey back home.
