Langtang Special Trek to Ganja La pass

This special trek in Langtang region can be done with camping and tea house basis. This is less frequented area by the trekkers. This trek is a combination of tea house based trek and camping. The tea house based trekking can be organized up to Kyanjin Gompa and the rest of the trial is only possible with camping. The trek starts from Syapru beshi and ends at Melamchi Pul. This trek provides you an opportunity to explore thousand year old cultures, customs and cultural heritages. Main inhabitants of this region are Tamang, Gurung, Sherpa and Yolmo. The Sherpas in this region are completely different from the Sherpas of Everest region in their language, dress, culture and traditions. The Sherpas of this region are more similar to Tibetan people in their culture. The spectacular views of Langtang Lirung, Ponggen Dopku, Yala Peak, Dorje Lakpa, Urkeinmang, Leonpogang and Naya kanga can be captured in this trek. The maximum elevation point of this trek is 5122 meters at Ganja La pass.

Day 01: Arrival, pick up by our staff and transfer to Hotel

Day 02: Drive to Syaprubeshi (1610m)

Day 03: Syaprubeshi to Lama Hotel (2480m)

Day 04: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3541m)

Day 05: Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3800m)

Day 06: Kyanjin Gompa to Ngegang (4520m)

Day 07: Ngegang – Ganja La pass – to Keldang (4420m)

Day 08: Keldang to Dukpa (4040m)

Itinerary

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival

Upon arrival in the International Airport you will be picked up by Plan Nepal Adventure staff and transfer you to a hotel. Our Trekking Manager will meet you and discuss about the trekking details.

Day 02: Drive to Syaprubeshi (1610m)

The only alternative mode of transportation is by local bus transportation. The scenic drive to Syaprubeshi will approximately take 08 hours. The drive itself is adventurous as the drive is typically on the unique hilly road of Nepal.

Day 03: Syaprubeshi to Lama Hotel (2480m)

The first day of our journey will approximately take 06 hours. We will start the trial by following the Langtang River and then we pass through dense forests. We will have to cross the suspension bridge multiple times and we will encounter small tea shops occasionally on the trial. The route will follow with multiple ascends and descends. We will stay overnight at Lama Hotel.

Day 04: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430m)

The trial will continue to pass through dense forests and after we make a steep ascend to the top of hill, we will leave behind the dense forests. After that we will encounter stone prayers, Mani walls, Chortens and sacred prayer flags on the way. The Majestic view of Langtang Lirung can be captured on the trial. Furthermore few ascends will take us to Langtang valley. The total journey time is approximately 06 hours. We will stay overnight at the tea house based hotel.

Day 05: Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m)

We will be ascending further into the higher altitude and we will be ascending 400 meters high. The trial will initially lead away from the town and into the Yak pastures. The trial also encounters the largest prayer wall (Mani wall) with lots of stones engraved with prayers. The trial will lead to multiple wooden bridges which finally leads to the Kyanjin Monastery. We will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 06: Kyanjin Gompa to Ngegang (4520m)

From the Kyanjin Monastery we will start the journey to Ganja La pass. The total duration of the journey will be approximately 06 hours. However, in the winter time the snow may delay the total amount of time. The trial will initially cross the Langtang river and passes through the dense Rhododendron forests. We will stay overnight at the tented camp.

Day 07: Ngegang – Ganja La pass – to Keldang (4420m)

The final day of the pass is a challenging day and summiting the pass is also difficult as it is one of the difficult mountain passes of Nepal. The total journey of the pass will approximately take 07 hours. Ganja La pass is covered with snow almost all time of the year and ascending and descending in the pass can be difficult sometimes. You will find some beautiful lakes along the pass and the view from the top of the pass is spectacular. After successfully climbing the pass we will descend down to Keldang and stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 08: Keldang to Dukpa (4040m)

We will descend downhill gently and make an overnight stay at Dukpa. Camping will be done here. The total duration for the journey is approximately 06 hours.

Day 09: Dukpa to Tarke Gyang (2600m)

We will drop the altitude rapidly from an altitude of 4040 meters to 2600 meters. The trial is gentle descend through the ridges, forests, grasslands and green lush vegetations. We will enjoy our overnight stay at tea house based hotel.

Day 10: Tarke Gyang to Sermathang (2590m)

We will pass through forests and small tea shops on the trial. Sermathang village practices the Buddhism of Bhutanese origin and therefore the culture, traditions and life style are more similar to Bhutanese people.

Day 11: Sermathang to Melamchi pul (846m)

The last day of the trek is done swiftly and dropping the altitude rapidly from 2590 meters to 846 meters. The total duration of journey to reach Melamchi pul is 03 hours and thus you have an option either to stay overnight at Melamchi to bid farewell party to your guides and other staffs or you can drive back to Kathmandu from there.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu (03 hours)

The total journey back to Kathmandu valley will approximately take 03 hours at maximum and therefore that will leave you enough time to do last minute shopping in the Kathmandu valley.

Day 13: Departure

We will drop you in the Airport and bid you farewell wishing you a safe journey back home.
