Trekking in Langtang Region is as popular as Everest or Annapurna Region of Nepal. It is popular due to easily accessible and route beginner trekking in Nepal. Langtang region is located 130 km North of Kathmandu valley and is protected under Langtang National Park. This National park is the first National Park to be announced for the list of National parks in Nepal. In Tibetan language “Lang” means “Yak” and “teng” means “to follow” and therefore there are myths of Yetis seen in this region. Temperate and sub-alpine vegetation are found here. Migratory birds, deer, Rhesus monkeys, Himalayan tahr (a kind of wild goat) and Pandas are found in this National Park. Tamang, Sherpa, Yolmo and Bhotia are the main inhabitant of this region. This region is rich in their cultures and cultural heritages. Wood crafting, languages, houses and dress are distinctly unique to this region.
Trekking in Langtang Region does not have any access to mountains over 8000 meters. However, this trial is famous for exploring the cultural diversity and cultural heritages. Approximately 70 glaciers and Lakes are found in this region and some of them are utmost important to Hindu religion. Gosainkunda (Kunda means Lake in Nepalese term), Parvatikunda, Bhairabhkunda, dhudhkunda, Panchpokhari, etc. are some of the important lakes of this region. The peaks that are seen in this region are Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Yala Peak, Surya Peak, Langshisha Ri, Tsergo Ri and Naya Kanga Peak. The most frequently visited places of this region are GosainKunda Lake (4300 meters), Kyanjin Gompa (Monastry), Helambu circuit and Tamang heritage trial.
