Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is most popularly known as Annapurna Base camp Trek. It is intensely short trek in Annapurna Conservation area. The trek trial leads to the heart of the Annapurna range where you can have the 360 degree view of magnificent Mountains of Annapurna range. The trek starts from Pokhara and the maximum elevation point of this trek is 4100 meters at Annapurna Base camp. Annapurna I have been restricted for climbing and therefore, the term base camp is merely an old term. Thus, presently this trek is known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. This trek trail also leads to the Machhapuchre Base camp (Note: Machhapuchre is also banned for climbing). The trial of this trek ascends and descends providing you with the improving views of the gigantic mountains as you progress forward. With this trek, you will be able to have the spectacular views of Hiunchuli Peak, Annapurna I, Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Machhapuchre (Fish Tail Mountain). In this trial you will mostly pass through Gurung and Thakali settlements.

Itinerary

 

Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival, pick up and transfer to Hotel

Upon arrival on the Tribhuwan International Airport, our staff will pick you up and transfer to Hotel. At the Hotel our Trekking Manager will discuss about the trekking itinerary and details.

Day 02: Fly to Pokhara, Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Birethati (1080m)

The flight duration to Pokhara from Kathmandu is only 30 minutes and the drive from Pokhara to Nayapul is one and half hour. After reaching Nayapul, the trekking starts uphill path to Birethati and the journey duration is one hour approximately.

Day 03: Birethati to Tikhedhunga (1540m)

The trekking trail is slow uphill ascending pathway with small tea shops on the way. The journey to Tikhedhunga will approximately take four and half hours.

Day 04: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860m)

The trekking trial to Ghorepani will continue to ascend uphill pathway with a steep uphill climb just before reaching Ghorepani. Ghorepani is located on the top of the hill and the place is renowned for their hospitality.

Day 05: Ghorepani –Poon hill (3210m) to Tadapani (2560m)

The trekking trial from Ghorepani to reach Poon hill is a slow uphill pathway. Poon- hill is popular spot for capturing the distant view of Annapurna Mountain range, After visit to Poon- hill the pathway will ascend downhill and we will reach Tadapani for the overnight stop.

Day 06: Tadapani to Chhomrong (2040m)

The trial will ascend continuously until up to Kimron Khola (River) and then the pathway is gradual slope for about an hour. Then finally the steep ascend pathway will lead to the Chhomrong village. From this village spectacular view of Annapurna South and Fish tail Mountain can be captured.

Day 07: Chhomrong to Dovan (2600m)

The route will move alongside the Modi River and then after crossing the suspension bridge over Modi River, the route ascends up to reach Sinuwa Danda, The trial from Sinuwa Danda will pass through the thick Rhododendron forest. Then the pathway descends to reach Dovan. The total duration of the journey is 06 hours.

Day 08: Dovan to Deurali (3200m)

The trekking trial is a pleasant journey and the duration of the walk is only four hours approximately. This trial will provide you an opportunity to explore bio-diverse flora and fauna. If lucky, then you might even see animals like wild boar, snow leopard and dears.

Day 09: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4100m)

Annapurna Base camp is merely an old term because Annapurna has been restricted for climbing and therefore a new term, Annapurna sanctuary was coined to refer the base camp of Annapurna. From the Annapurna base camp 360 degree view of Annapurna mountain ranges including the Fish Tail Mountain can be captured.

Day 10: Back to Dovan via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m)

From The Annapurna base camp it will take approximately 02 hours to reach Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail Mountain). Then we will retrace our path to Dovan.

Day 11: Dovan to Jhinu Danda (1950m)

Retracing the pathway is much easier due to descending pathway and we will retrace our pathway from Dovan to Jhinu Danda.

Day 12: Jhinu Danda to Pothana (1870m)

We will quickly ascend downhill pathway to Pothana from Jhinu Danda. the total duration of walk will be 06 hours.

Day 13: Pothana to Dhampus Phedi and drive to Pokhara (30 minutes)

From Pothana we will trek down for approximately 02 hours and reach Dhampus phedi and then will drive to Pokhara from there. The duration of drive will be approximately 02 hours.

Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu

With the end of the Trek, the scenic drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara will approximately take 06 hours.

Day 15: Airport drop for final departure

Finally, we will bid farewell in the International airport and wish you safe journey back home.
