Changunarayan Nagarkot Dhulikhel Trek is ideally suitable for those who have limited time but still want to get the trekking experience of Nepal and explore Nepalese lifestyle, culture, traditions and arts that is thriving throughout many generations. With this trip, trekkers will be able to explore mountain views, landscapes and aged old cultural heritages at the same time. This trek is also suitable for beginners or those who are unable to do high altitude trek. Changunarayan is situated approximately 20 km east of Kathmandu at an elevation of 1500 meters. Changunarayan is one of the oldest temples of Kathmandu valley which was built by the then King Hari Dutta in 323 AD. It is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage monument list. Nagarkot, situated at an altitude of 2175 meters is famous for mesmerizing sunrise and sunset view. Moreover, this place offers majestic view of Langtang mountain range including Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal (Note: Himal means mountain in Nepalese language), Jugal Himal, Mt. Dorjelakpa, Mt. Shisapangma and Mt. Gaurishankar. Dhulikhel lies at an elevation of 1440 meters which offers spectacular view of Langtang Himal range and its surrounding mountains. On a very fine day, one might be able to catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest from Dhulikhel. Moreover, historically, Dhulikhel has been an important en-route for trade to Tibet. It also holds more than dozens of ancient temples and ruins.

 

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel.
Plan Nepal Travel and Tour staff will pick you up from the International Airport and drive you to the luxury hotel in Kathmandu. A professional travel consultant from Plan Nepal Travel and Tours will brief you about your planned trip package.

Day 02: Drive to Changunarayan and Hike to Nagarkot.
The drive to Changunarayan is approximately 45 minutes from Kathmandu. The drive encounters the oldest city Bhaktapur and its traditional inhabitants. After the visit of Changunarayan, the trek to Nagarkot starts. The duration of the trek is 3 and half hour. The trek trial ascends upward from Changunarayan through the pine forest.  Along the trial you will encounter unique terrace farms and diverse flora and fauna. Nagarkot is fascinating destination for two particular reasons. First is the mesmerizing view of sunrise and sunset while the second reason is for the view of Langtang Himal range. The sunset view can be done in the evening and stay overnight at the hotel.


Day 03: Hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel
Early in the morning the sunrise view can be done from here. The trial from Nagarkot descends downhill through the forest and unique terrace farms. You will encounter some small villages on the way which will provide you an opportunity to discover the lifestyle of Nepalese people. With an approximate walk of five to six hours you will reach Dhulikhel which is located at an altitude of 1440m. It is an ancient town which lies 30 km east of Kathmandu. The Newar town (Newars are a typical race in Nepal) of Dhulikhel provides a traditional atmosphere presented with their long aged traditions and languages. You will be able to observe their thousand years old Cultural heritages and temples. The tower which takes about 30 minutes hike from the main town provides magnificent view of the Langtang Himalayan range and its neighboring mountains.

Day 04: Hike from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha
The trial to Namo Buddha is uphill pathway through the tropical forest rich with diverse flora and fauna. Namo Buddha lies at an altitude of 1982m. It takes approximately three hours to hike from Dhulikhel. There is an astonishing legend related to the place, which is commemorated by an ancient stone slab and a stupa. The story describes the heroism of a young prince who sacrificed himself to the starving tigress and her cubs and thus was hailed as an incarnation of Buddha. There is a beautiful monastery at this place where you can have insight to the Buddhist religion.

Day 05: Departure
You will be transferred to International terminal at airport for your departure.
